Flower Island 50°36.022N x 126°42.342W Flower Island is located off the southern tip of Swanson Island in Blackfish Sound and just outside of the Broughton Archipelago Marine Provincial Park http://www.vancouverisland.com/parks/?id=332 The beach here is composed of small broken black rock and is convenient for launching and landing at all tide levels. The site appears to be used frequently by kayakers. A small area has been cleared out of the trees for setting up a tent. At high tides it is necessary to camp in the trees as the beach is completely covered with water up to the vegetation line. I could find no water source on Flower Island but water would likely be available on the much larger and very close-by Swanson Island. Insects were not a problem on the night that I camped here (6-2-12) and I was able to make a connection with my cell phone. This is the view looking east from Flower Island. The tent site is in the trees on Flower Island. This rainbow formed over Blackfish Sound on the evening that I camped on Flower Island.
